Well, we all knew this day would come. I said it would happen, and now it has happened. Since I didn't get any confirmation that the West Virginia Division of Tourism made the necessary donations, I've written them a wee letter.

Blackwater

On Friday we saw a presentation from Amy Goodman and Jeremy Scahill. Amy gave a great talk as always, but I was most intrigued this time by Jeremy, who just wrote a new book about Blackwater USA, the private paramilitary organization first brought to wide attention when four of its employees were killed by insurgents in Fallujah.

Scahill has gotten to know the families of those four men, and their stories are supremely compelling. He quoted one discussion between a widow and a Blackwater executive; she wanted to see the incident report and he replied: "You'll have to sue us to get it."
