Tuesday, April 17, 2007This Man is My HeroLiviu Librescu survived the Nazi Holocaust and Ceaucescu's regime, then lived in Israel for a time. In 1985 he moved to the United States, where he took a professorship at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Yesterday while teaching he realized a man with a gun was trying to get into his classroom. He was shot to death while blocking the door so his students could escape through the window. He saved the lives of 20 people. If there is a higher power watching over us, I humbly pray that if -- god forbid -- I am ever in such a situation, I have the strength and courage to do the same thing.
